Global Warming
When it comes to the issue of global warming the United States government should put its economy first. There isn’t yet solid proof that humans are the cause of global warming or that there is anything we can do to prevent it. Even if there was something we could do it is happening slowly enough to where we do not need to worry about it right away. Right now the main issue is our failing economy and the government needs to put its focus and funds into fixing.
There are many scientists who firmly believe that global warming has little to do with human activity, if it even exists at all. It has been reported that humans emit less than 3% of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, so even if we cut off carbon dioxide emissions completely it would not make much of a difference. Earths temperature has been rising for millions of years, long before human industry was an issue. Not to mention that in the last ten years the temperatures seemed to have stopped rising. Given these facts it would only be wasteful to spend any more time or money on limiting carbon emissions.
By making its economy the top priority the United States government can have time to do more research and figure out how to spend its money wisely. Also, by staying out of international environmental agreements the United States will maintain more control over its economy and environment.
Right now our economy is the main issue. The economy is at the worst it has been since the great depression so even if there was something humans could do to control global warming we would not have the money to pay for it. The United States government needs to get its economy in check and lower its unemployment rate before it even thinks about global warming.
Millions of dollars that could have gone to fixing the economy have gone towards global warming. The United States needs to do its research and put its funds where they are needed most. Given the state of the economy and lack of proof that global warming is even something to worry about, the United States government needs to get its economy in shape and forget about global warming.
